To strengthen the reliability of the wood products sales process and the security of information systems, JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) has certified its information security management system in accordance with the ISO27001 international standard.
This certificate confirms that the management of activities related to the sale of wood products and the provision of the on-line sales process or e-commerce has been audited and it complies with the requirements of the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 standard.
“The certificate obtained is an additional confirmation that the activities and information processed in the framework of e-commerce are carried out in accordance with procedures and best international practices. The sales process is managed so that the information in it is true, accurate and verifiable, the data flows, calculations and algorithms are correct, the data is accessed and processed only by authorized employees. For our customers, the certificate is a guarantee for a reliable and controlled sales process, within which the information submitted by customers is processed,” says Līga Ozola-Šmite, Sales Manager at LVM Koksnes produktu ražošanas un piegāde.
Most of the sales process of wood products takes place in the e-environment; therefore, LVM has developed and employs a number of information systems, applications, interfaces and other information technology and communication solutions that are used to ensure the sales process and information management.
Wood sales process
To ensure high availability of wood products and equal opportunities for the purchase thereof, LVM sells wood products in a public sales process. Anyone who meets the requirements set by LVM and who need wood products offered by LVM – round timber or energy chips – can take part in it.
The process of selling wood products consists of several stages. Initially, potential buyers submit an application, the compliance of which is assessed. This is followed by a sales process such as an auction. The results of the sales process serve as the basis for concluding a contract.
In 2021, 6.83 million cubic metres of wood were sold to Latvian wood processing companies, including 6.64 million cubic metres of round timber assortment and 0.19 million cubic metres of growing trees. The amount of chips sold reaches 0.6 million megawatt hours.
